viva las vegas

This year, Dan's work changed their vacation policy. If he doesn't use his vacation days, he'll lose them. So in order to maximize his total time off, in weeks where there's a holiday, he took off the entire week.
Since we were both returning from long trips, we decided that this vacation should be really really low-key. We headed down to Las Vegas for a whirlwind trip. We stayed with my former roommate, Kristen, and her family. They were so close to the strip and knew a lot of fun things to do! One of my life goals was to see the Beatles Love Cirque du Soleil show. One of Dan's life goals (he doesn't really do life goals like I do but whatever) was to go to the Neon Boneyard Museum. That was pretty much our itinerary.
I didn't get photos of everything, but here's an overview of our trip.

Ok, so the Neon Museum has all these old signs from Old Vegas Casinos. It was really quite interesting. Your tour guide goes around and talks about the history of the hotels and casinos. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I would suggest going  earlier in the day than we went (it was super hot by 10:30) and making sure it's not during your child's naptime. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to do something fun and different in Sin City!

We had to go see the Bellagio Gardens! And escape the heat!

World's Largest Chocolate Fountain!
The fountains at the Bellagio were going off with "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - a little preview of our show later!?

Ruby was HOT.
Our Fabulous Tour Guides - Kristen and Evie. We pretty much forged them to take this cheesy touristy photo! You never do the super touristy things when you live in tourist destinations!

Ok, SO Beatles LOVE was AWESOME!
They didn't allow photography while the show was going on (obviously). So most of these pictures are just from the entrance.I thought it was just perfect. It was the right blend of Cirque du Soleil and tribute concert. I cannot believe the things that those performers can do with their bodies. My favorite scene was "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". It really was incredible.
And we got a Christmas Ornament so we can always remember our fun date night.

(Thank you Kristen & Will for watching little Roo so we could go!)

We were in Vegas for about 48 Hours and they were jam-packed full of fun!
And now back to real regular life...
